Iron Deficiency

So, my daughter keeps a pretty tight rein on the grocery budget at her house, and my cute son-in-law in suffering from an acute case of too-much-pasta-not-enough-meat syndrome.  Inside this Lady Gaga inspired gift tin is a gift certificate for some Christmas relief.  Shhhhhh.  Don't tell!  It's a Christmas meat secret!  What do you think?

Voici mon atelier!

My Studio

My muse is not a sweet, ethereal whisper in my ear.  Oh, no.  She's very real and sometimes bossy.  She told me to take a picture of my studio and post it on my blog.  She said that people love stuff like that.  Well, I must admit that I love stuff like that.  I look at the tidy studios and wonder how anything creative could ever come from such a sterile and orderly place.  I look at the messy ones and wonder how anything lovely could ever come from such chaos.  No, that's not true.  What I really think when I see a messy studio is that I've found an instant friend.  I, too, am a pig.  I organize only when my work surface has shrunk to mere inches on the table in front of me.  Give me a surface and I'll pig it up.  I couldn't tell you what color my desk is.  I'm not proud of this fact.  It's just the way it is.  Time in my studio is so precious.  Why would I clean when I could be creating?
So, get ready.  I'm going to post a couple of pictures of my studio.  Not right now, but soon.  I'll have to muster some courage first, like stepping on the scales at a Weight Watchers meeting.

Art Deco-ish Bracelets

I usually can't be bothered with wearing a bracelet.  I might try to put one on in the morning, but it's usually off by noon.  I'm pretty excited about these, though.  They are actually so comfortable that I wear them all day.  Well, not all of them.  Just one.  The focal bead is sanded and then buffed within an inch of its life, the chalcedony, pearls, and agate are smooth, and the fluted tube bead is all polymer, so it's like wearing nothing at all...on your wrist.

Oyster Pendant

Oysters create pearls because they get a little irritated by a grain of sand and then overreact...at least I think that's how it happens.  This oyster-like pendant, however, had no such irritation.  It came about by the process of playing in my studio over the weekend.

Concave Bracelet

Maybe I need to get a hand model for my new concave, mokume gane rings, unless you think people will like my oven-burned, fifty-three year old hands with polymer under every fingernail.  What do you think?

Bracelets with a Focus

Oooooh, I'm having fun in my studio!  Some may call it manic;  I just say that my muse woke up!

Totally Tubular Bead

Don't you love it when you get a little germ of an idea?  These long, thin-walled, black beads make up most of these new bracelets.  They are surprisingly strong and flexible, and I can use them to frame a focal bead.  They are tricky to work with in their raw condition, but I'm pretty happy with where this might take me.
